这两个词在含有“解决”的意思时很容易让我们费解，但是在英语语境中还是不难区分的。
Solve 是指找到解决问题的办法，因此，与之搭配的常常是：solve a problem、a mystery、a puzzle、difficulties 等等。
而settle 是指解决争端，争议，也就是中止争端和争议，使意见达成遥。
与之搭配的是：settle an argument、a matter、a dispute 等等。
我们先来听几个含有solve 的例句。
Examples She’s very good at solving problems.
她很擅长解决问题。
It’s not a problem that you can solve easily, this is going to take quite a bit of patience.
这不是一个容易解决的问题，需要有耐心才行。
Helen 做过数学题的朋友们一定知道解方程，就是solve the equation。
