冷火鸡真的就是冷火鸡吗？　　英语中有好多跟食物有关的短语，但它们表达的实际意思却往往与食物无关，比如，go bananas是“发怒、发疯”的意思，跟香蕉没什么关系。
遥我们要说的这个短语cold turkey，也是这样的情况。
　　　　"Cold turkey" describes the actions of a person who abruptly gives up a habit or addiction rather than gradually easing the process through gradual reduction or by using replacement medication.
　　Cold turkey指一个人短时间内很快戒除了某个习惯或者成瘾的嗜好，而不是通过逐渐减量或遥替代药物等手段逐渐戒除。
　　当名词时cold turkey意为“遥对失败者”，“莽撞”等；当副词时意为“直截了当地”、“开门见山地”或者“断然地”。
　　比如：　　He quit heavy drinking cold turkey.
